Burning before hinge cutting?

Anyone here ever burn the leaf litter prior to hinge cutting?

I am considering doing this and maybe even planting wheat or rye before the cutting to help with the stem count. I want the area for bedding so a want a high stem count and the hinging is going to happen. I am just looking into other things I can do to help make it that much better.

I think it's reasonable idea to help a section of land out each year by doing that.
