Bur Hybrid

I’m leaning towards this being a bur x chinkapin cross. Swamp White is also on this property tho as well.

This is a graft off the original tree.

I'll be back up at my grandma's farm in the near future to get pics of the OG. It's about 15-20' tall.

Smooth as a babies bottom on the underside of those leaves.

The Concordia oak growing right next to it definitely has the velvety or fuzzy feel to the underside of the leaves.

How has the bur/ chink compare to the SWO/ bur.

I am interested in zone, drought tolerance,soil pH, drainage, and years to sexual maturity.

This is strictly a guess on my part, but I'd think the bur x chink would be better for non acid soils. Both about equal for drought tolerance. Swo x bur better for wetter and colder conditions.
May not be enough difference to tell.

How about age to production of acorns?

No idea which would be better. My schuette's aren't old enough yet. (3-4 years old). I have no experience with bur x chink. Didn't even know they existed!

The place that is selling hybrid acorns said the bur / chink cross are less expensive.

It’s called oikos tree crops, I couldn’t identify which strain was the chink/ bur cross
