We typically get very few photos of bucks in velvet. This is the farthest one along so far this spring.

We typically get very few photos of bucks in velvet. This is the farthest one along so far this spring.

I've seen quite a few this year which is very unusual for me too. Most are small deer and just have nubs. Last year was the first time I've had buck in the summer in velvet that stuck around into the fall. Hopefully turning a corner and actually holding some bucks.

I have a couple too this year. And the second picture is just proof that there was a buck around last fall too!

You can really tell the difference between the mature and not so mature bucks

Best of the three on camera so far, and the first daytime photo (two weeks ago). Not seeing any of the two four year olds from last season. The heat wave seems to be moving them to nighttime feedings.
