Bringing multiple weapons to hunt??

Kind of a crazy question but I’ve always wondered the legal aspect of this. I love to bow deer hunt. I also love to pheasant hunt. The seasons overlap. Say it’s not gun deer season, could I bring a bow and shotgun with me in search of either species if the opportunity arises? Or say, I want to bow deer hunt but I want it turn into a predator hunt with a rifle if an opportunity arises. Can I bring both weapons to the blind if it’s not gun deer season?

Assuming I have the necessary tags and licenses, I would think it would be fine. But, I could see a game warden not loving it since there could be the perception of hunting a species with a firearm not in season.

In our state - no.

I know in Nebraska it used to be in the regulations that you couldnt be in possession of a centerfire rifle during rifle deer season (9 day season) without a valid deer rifle tag. Not sure if it is still in place. I am sure you could carry a shotgun for bird hunting during any deer season, maybe with the exception of slugs or buckshot, though I have never seen any reference to that.

PA has seasons that overlap. Example, archery deer and inline early bear season. They recently clarified you are allowed to hunt both at the same time and possess both weapon, provided you have the proper license/tags.

You have to wonder sometimes what were they thinking. In our late antlerless season you can use leftover tags. If you use your firearm tags you can shoot a pistol, slug gun, straight wall center fired rifle,or muzzleloader. If you have a leftover muzzleloader tag also you can only shoot the deer with a muzzleloader. Plus the archery season is at the same time. Guy only has one back.

Utah yes, in fact I am any weapon hunting elk right now, and if that doesn't pan out we are moving to grouse, but could kill a bear at any encounter.
We are using rifles, but the neighbor harvested early without a shot. I think he has an giant anvil hanging near his pond.

I’ve duck hunted several times and climbed right into the tree stand right after for bow hunting. Also have taken both in case a turkey shows up.

Assume you’re in Wisconsin?

Yep, WI. Maybe I missed it, but I couldn’t find anything in the regs on this.

I am not for sure if it is ever against the law to take any weapon on private land anytime you want. Think about it, I can shoot my gun at a stump in the back yard for target practice then why can't I do the same in my woods. I would think it would be hard to press charges if weapon in woods out of season with nothing being killed. I mean I can walk the streets with a weapon, then why not the woods. How do you prove someone is hunting until they shoot at an animal? I don't do this and I don't advocate it but seems like you can take any weapon on a hike on private land, so in other words you are not hunting a species until you shoot at it. I have several friends that pack weapons while Morel hunting, I don't know why because I know they are Fun-Gi's.

Let’s be honest 90% of the laws on the books are to persecute you when they choose to and are useless for whatever nonsense they were dreamt up for to begin with.

I was thinking the same yesterday. Wear orange and in accordance with law? So you are going to tell me how to dress on my own property?
Cell cameras are an issue now? So the man is going to tell me I cannot monitor my own property and document damage from the king's animals which the king planted on my property?

Need protect yourself from bearcat wolves? But not allowed to take a defensive weapon?

I guess we are as free as we choose to be.

I think I'd like to take a blow gun with me on bow hunts.

My buddy wants to lobby for a gatling gun as the handicap-version weapon for muzzleloader firearm season. He argues, in that case, one will be enough.

In NY you can't possess any firearms while bow hunting for deer (in bow hunting only season/zones).

And I would never ever ignore that, nope not me.

In PA during the early muzzleloader (can use flintlock or inline for doe and kids and old guys can use rifles) you can take your bow along too in case a buck wanders by. I’ve done it a few times but it just seems like a lot of effort (and gear to carry) for a little extra range..also never shot a doe when I had both along..in PA though you are allowed to carry a pistol when bow hunting if you have your concealed carry permit

From Missouri's regulations

Archers hunting deer or turkeys during the archery season may not be in possession of a firearm. Some exceptions apply. See 3 CSR 10-7.432 and 3 CSR 10-7.455 of the Wildlife Code of Missouri.

However I believer if you have a concealed carry permit you could carry a concealed handgun.
