Binoculars for little kids?

Frosted brassica

5 year old buck +
Want to help my kids have fun learning to use binoculars. They are 4 and 7 years old. What advice do you have and which binoculars would you reccomend? Just looking to share the fun of the outdoors.
Thanks.

I use 8x or 10x myself and was thinking it would be easier to start them on lower power. What power is easy enough for them but strong enough to make it fun? Probably will order and not drive them out to a store to try.

You can get the Vortex solo monocular for $50. It's 8x25, small, light and kids can put it in a pocket and carry it.

If you want to go to the compact binos the Vortex Raptor is $100. I bought the Diamondbacks 8x32 a few years ago for $150 and my kids will use those when they go. I've even used them at times.

I'd agree go cheap , maybe some 7x35's
lower power will be better for them, as easier for them to find things, larger objectives will be brighter as well as make finding things easier!

kids are HARD on things, so cheap, will save you some replacement costs , and once they get used to them and can be more careful, you can upgrade later on
Not sure how old your kids are here

but even TOY binoculars to a small kid can be fun!
you can also maybe try finding used one's off places like Craigslist and the likes too

If your kids are anything like mine better get something that closely resembles what you have or you get to use them. I Got The bx1 Leupold to keep in my truck my 4 year old has pretty well layed claim to them when he is around. Had to get him a crooked horn harness also. Kids are hard on things and if you are in a position to get them something with a lifetime warranty I bet you will get to use it.

I bought a pair of Vortex 10x56 binos two years ago and really like them. I would think there is something in their lineup that would be appropriate for kids. Great company with outstanding customer service. It is only a 45 minute drive for me to the town of Middleton which is on the far West side of Madison, WI where Vortex has their headquarters. They have let me look through all their display models with no high pressure sales pitches.

I got a monocular this year and it is much easier for my 6 year old. First one I have had and I like it better too.

I have never tried a monocular but I like this advice the best for practice with paper tubes until I can pick up some cheap glass. Coloring books are great. Thanks

Frosted, I said that in humor, it was nice to see you took at that way.

You can certainly buy whatever type of binoculars you want; however, at the end of the day, you want your kids to have fun ... right?

I think 4 & 7 year olds trying to handle a pair of binocs will be frustrating.

Have them make their binocs out of a couple of towel tubs, you too, I think you will have more fun and so will they!

Last year my two boys really liked using their Leupold 6X30 Yosemites when we deer hunted or went on hikes. With a bit of instruction, they were finding stuff in them and using them properly very quickly. They can be had for under a $100/ea and have a lifetime warranty. The size and shape make them easy for kids to use. They are darn good binos! For where/how we hunt they are darn near perfect. I find myself borrowing theirs often. They are good enough that I don't see needing to upgrade for them until they are much older or start going West on hunts with me. My then 5yo packing his bino's to the ground blind for the evening hunt...

I just can't agree with the paper tube suggestions. My kids like it when they are doing stuff with dad using the type of stuff that dad is using. As far as kids being hard on stuff, that's why I went with a set that has a lifetime, no-fault warranty... I got mine from this place:
