Bigger deer on their feet the last few days (pic heavy)

10 degrees out and I saw nothing tonight here in Missouri. Never seen that before! i was surrounded by standing corn while over looking a 2 acre Brassica plot along side the river. I have no idea where the deer are.

Thats odd. Maybe in the corn? Im still getting quite a few daytime buck pics. All feeding paterns but some even mid day since it got so cold. If it were me, I'd sleep in and go in the afternoon. Most of my pics are after noon with the majority from 3:00 pm on. But I'm just seeing a small part of MO

This should keep Fall's Legend and you in the mood.

Just awesome Bill! Even without deer I am always in the mood.

Bill,
You got me pumped up. I hunted the extreme cold. Harvested a mature buck last evening. Was not sure of the shot so backed out at dark. Recovered no problem this morning. Not a high scorer, a ten with one point broke off, but solid mass and good bases.

Saw him Monday evening staging up in the woods near my main feed plot. He was with some does. I went to that area following the trail back from the plot, in the snow from the night before.

Pulled my LW the first night and adjusted for Tuesday evening a little farther downwind from where I saw him. And the Good Lord allowed it all to come together. Makes for an even better Christmas. Your pictures kept me motivated, thanks. Shot him an hour before last light!

Nice one, Congrats!!

He's no slouch.
Congratulations!
Wait til MDC puts out their final numbers. You're going to be among a very small group who killed a buck after gun season with a bow

^^I was thinking the same thing. You just don't see many late season harvest pics. Great job!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words.

Nice buck FL! Congrats!

The Blade is still active during the daylight. I think he is so run down he needs the beans right now. The tall 8 made it through so far as well!

MBC and Bill, you guys are really doing the management approach extremely effective given the pictures of deer during the daylight you capture! Just awesome and it shows who should be listened to on this site. Keep up the good work, we are all benefitting from it! Merry Christmas to you both.

Thanks, but I wouldn't go that far. For me anyway location makes me look much smarter than I am. The biggest contribution I can say I made to deer like these being on their feet is leaving them alone. All but one of the locations these pic came from were hunted 4 times or less, some only twice. The hardest hunted spot maybe saw 6 to 8 sits. They just don't see human activity here very often so they don't expect it.

Blade is going to be a cool looking deer next year.

Nice bucks fellas.

I have to agree with Bill, I researched a little and bought in the right place. The habitat work we have done has just made my place that much better.

Unlike MN, where my 20 years of habitat work was a huge waste of time....

Yo Fall's Legend !! Real nice buck - and late season archery to boot. That's called maximum effort. Way to persevere in the cold, brother !! That bow kill has to feel real good. Congrats !!

Thanks. Probably mostly luck, but you know what they say...
Thanks again
