Best/ Worst ATV

Honda fan here, we've owned different ones for over 25 years and never had any trouble out of them. All ive ever done was change the batteries and oil and filter, of course.

I have had a 1986, 1996, and 2006 Honda 4x4 four wheelers. Both the '96 and '06 were stolen in 2008. Would definitely buy a Honda ATV again if that is what I needed.

But I bought a Polaris Ranger in 2008, mainly as I got it for about half off due to connections. Can't do without the large bed to haul stuff in now.

I had a Honda Big Red 3 wheeler, Awesome machine for its day. Then I had 3 Polaris that each gave me troubles. Had it bored out 3 times as that model had a faulty thermostat to trigger the fan. Cost me about $800 per time except for the 3rd time as it broke down within 2 months of the previous repair. I then hardwired the fan in and bypassed the thermostat to solve that problem. Sold the Polaris and bought a 2004 450 Yamaha Kodiak which performed flawlessly the entire time I owned it and I use it hard as its my main piece of equipment for 5 acres of food plots. I just upgraded this spring to a Can Am 650 XT with power steering, what a dream to drive.

I like your rig Natty. That trailer has to be a HUGE help for many things !! I like that lime pic with the trailer - gives me ideas ..........:D

Spend plenty of time searching for a good used machine. I watched and waited for 2 years before getting what I was looking for. Found a 2005 John Deere Buck XT with 212 miles on it. These are actually Can Am BRP machines and it has the 650 cc Rotax liquid cooled engine and it produces plenty of torque. It is definitely more of a utility quad and I have pulled a 4' x 8' trailer with 32" sides full of firewood and the same trailer with a 275 gallon tote full of water with no issues at all. Best engine breaking of any quad I have ridden. I have used it pretty hard for two years and have had zero problems. 80# spreader mounted on the front and a 15 gallon sprayer on the rear. Bought a hitch haul for lugging tools and saws and the like. It was appraised by a local dealer when I was having it serviced and they would give me $1500 more than I paid on a trade in. They seemed to want it but I am keeping what I have. Good luck in your search!

My Pops has a 2005 Yamaha Kodiak 400 that we use for food plotting and trail/road riding. He has well over 10,000 miles on it. No major repairs to speak of and it still starts and runs like new.

Me and the other hand. Currently rebuilding top end on my Polaris 2 smoker, again.

My dad is on his second Arctic cat. A refuses to buy anything else now. They are beasts, and hold their value well.
