If the swamp grass is truly a grass and not a sedge, you can go over the top of willow cuttings with clethodim/crop oil to keep competition down.

I never have had a positive ID on the "grass" in my swamp here. I've been calling it grass.....but I truthfully do not know.

EDIT: Just did a google search to help ID what I got here....and had forgotten this saying: “Sedges have edges, rushes are round, grasses have nodes from the top to the ground.”

That is the way I am leaning. Just easier for me than the others. I lack so much time in the spring when we get back to MN from OZ. The cuttings seem simple / affordable / and relatively bulletproof in my application. After they establish....I likely will add some switch grass....and simpley drive a trail through the switch for our wheeler. Hopefully (after a few years) we can get this project to the point that one can cross undetected. Same for critters. That is my goal.

Will spend more time developing this over the years....but I now got a decent starting point.
