Attachments for FEL w/3rd function

For those of you who have a FEL w 3rd function, which attachments (that use the 3rd function) have you found to be the most useful? I’ve necer owned or operated a tractor with a third function but the new tractor will have it and I’m wondering if there are any “must have” attachments. To me it seems like a grapple of some sort is a for sure no-brained for me. Curious what else you all own, have seen or have used that is very handy around the farm. I don’t have any cattle or real farm work to do. I do have 125 acres or CRP to maintain and obviously food plots (10ish acres). Not sure what the tractor will be able to run but curious to hear what you all own/have used? Thank you.

Thomas

A grapple will become necessity after you own one. I have a rock bucket with grapple that I couldn't imagine making firewood without it. Front mounted brush mower is handy for trimming those high up branches (probably only if you have a cab though)

I bought a grapple and pallet fork when I purchased my tractor. The grapple is super handy creating burn piles-haven’t used the pallet forks yet. Enjoy your tractor!!

Definitely getting the grapple. I do have a cab. Wasn’t sure if there was enough hydraulic fluid/power to run some sort of a cutter or not. I can see how that would be handy but not sure how much I would use it outside of one tight area I have leading to a small food plot...maybe trimming a hole into a cedar tree to mount a stand in

The last tractor I bought came with a bucket and forks. The forks were on my tractor 90% of the time. Love the pallet forks.

Yeah it would depend on flow rating. I actually mow plots with a loader mounted mower now (6 foot on skidsteer) a friend of mine has a small 4 foot one he bought specifically for trimming trees overhanging farm fields with a mid size tractor
One thing I don't have that I'd really find useful (I think) is a post/ tree puller

Have these welded onto your bucket … great for attaching you chains & hooks.

Take a look at everything attachments or McGee's farm equipment----lots of things you may not need but when you see some of the equipment options you might really want them. The front mount snow blowers look like something I might have to try---as long as it's a front mount. I wouldn't be able to use the rear mount and have to back up everywhere and be turned around in the seat to see what you're doing. Not sure if your tractor is small enough for a front mount(once you reach a certain size tractor the only option is rear mount). Grapple is something you can use for many things. Some guys do the crimper on the front and seeder in the back to do things in one pass instead of multiple passes to achieve the same thing. FEL is an absolute must for me with the soft ground I have to deal with.

I also highly recommend the grapple and the chain hooks. My grapple is never taken off - I use it a lot. By "grapple" what I have is a bar of tines that close up on the standard bucket like this one. The "root grapple" is surely a great tool also.

I got hooks welded on mine as well. One word of caution. The hooks are great for lifting. If you get them, do not try to use them to pull. Loaders are not made for stress in that direction.

Thanks,

Jack

The hooks are absolute necessities. I use mine for lifting and moving my 12 and 14 foot elevated box blinds. They secure the strap that goes around the box part of the stand for lifting it high enough to move it around my land. I also used them to clear 100+ down spruce trees from a straight line wind event with a double ended loop strap.

I will likely buy my grapple from EA; they seem well built and priced fair with free shipping. I would like to look more into the front mounted crimpers as well...haven’t seen many of those.
