Am I missing out on something?

I am as skeptical as anyone can be about the claims of so many products guaranteed to improve your chances of success. But, before its sale became illegal here in Virginia, I was sold on Tinks 69. I had to stop hanging it on my ladder. It's is (or was) supposed to be urine from am estrus doe. I don't know it what's in the bottle is what the label says. With that I still remain skeptical.

Tinks 69 is illegal in VA? just womdering why?

I remember back in the 80's putting out the little black plastic containers 35mm film came in with a cotton ball and a shot of Tinks 69. Fond memories of using that stuff.....though I'm not sure it ever worked for me.

Excuse me, but who guaranteed success of any product?

It is illegal to possess or use products containing natural deer urine, scent gland secretions, or other bodily fluids while taking, attempting to take, attracting, or scouting wildlife in Virginia.

The majority of natural deer lures and attractants are made with fluids and secretions collected from captive cervids. Chronic wasting disease (CWD) has been documented in numerous captive cervid herds, therefore the potential exists for these products to be contaminated with CWD prions. CWD has been confirmed in multiple captive deer herds certified as low risk for CWD and there is no way to either test the products for CWD or destroy CWD-causing prions. With the high level of uncertainty surrounding the use of such products, the Department proactively prohibited the use of them in order to minimize the potential for CWD introduction into new areas of Virginia.

Thanks. Did not know that.

Tinks contains natural doe urine. His post explains how that is illegal in VA.

You make a good point. I usually try to use words wisely but I failed in that one. Best wishes!

Right, but I never mentioned any of that.

I am sure glad we got that ironed out...

I've used Evercalm before, but it had unintended results. The idea was to have a buck come into bow range and remain calm so that I could more easily get a shot. Unfortunately, I came back the next morning and there were a bunch of doe beds, and later that day a doe came and bedded down about 50 yards away. She busted me when I climbed down from my stand. As far as I know, they are still bedding around that stand. I haven't hunted it for a couple years.

I go into sporting goods stores and I see shelves full of doe urine scents. I haven't used it for over a decade but the product must sell with all the inventory displayed. I've used it in the past as a drag scent rag and placed it near my stand as an attractant to lure deer in but never had any success with it. Has anyone used it and has success or is it just a modern day version of snake oil?
Have not used an attractant scent for probably 15 years. But a couple of weeks ago, I set up a doe decoy at about 20 yards in a 40 x 60 yrd food plot. I put some EverCalm on a couple sheets of paper towel and placed it in the belly opening under the Decoy. Mid morning a doe with her 2 fawns came into the plot on their way to their bedding area. All three came to within 10 yards of the Decoy to investigate, they never became overly nervous or alarmed and they moved off. About 30 minutes later, a doe and her button head fawn came through the plot with the same results. I was hoping for a buck encounter, but I think the set-up would have lured him into range. Telemark, you may be on to something here....May have to try utilizing the Evercalm to create a doe bedding area and then hunt down wind of it during the rutt.
