2026 - Anyone Seeing Morels Yet?

Bowsnbucks

5 year old buck +
Wondering if anyone has noticed any yet. Maybe guys in warmer states?

My wife showed me this picture from about 30 miles south of us that was in our local news this morning:

I hate morel’s.

Morels = Trespassers

A couple of people I know locally have found some smaller ones in small numbers. We got a good rain last night that should help them out.

I'm seeing on some forums people are finding them in small numbers. Looks like local microclimates. I'm hoping the big flush holds off til May, but I'm not counting on it.

We are finding 3 or 4 in places we usually find 25 to a 100. We are blaming it on the lack of moisture, very dry for this time of the year.

I have never found a morel in april.

Anyone know if dead/dying ash trees are good places to look for morels?

I found some morels around dead ash trees 2 years ago. I normally just look under dead elms, but I was turkey hunting and spotted them under the ash trees by accident. I probably should look under ash trees more often I guess.

I check under any dead or dying tree.

None up here in NEPA yet, maybe in a handful of weeks. I don't find them often but on occasion I will. Would love to find some more, they're delicious.

Not a model hunter myself but have some friends who look on my land. This is a good source for when they're popping up in different areas.

Daughter went to a hotspot behind my shed and found some greys. I need to go out.

Do the animals eat them?

(I've never seen one in my life)

Just when I’m mowing!
