    Last years grafts and rabbits

I didn’t notice any damage below on the rootstock but will have to check, probably was buried in snow. There’s a handful that have a bud still on the graft. Most don’t. I may graft some while they’re still dormant here. Leave the few that have a bud, and leave some chewed up ones go to see...

    Last years grafts and rabbits

I failed to protect my grafted apple trees well enough last fall and something snuck in the garden this winter and nibbled the tops. The pictures are hard to see, but show the damage. Mostly the rabbits ate the Scions and new growth on top from last summer I think the rootstock will be fine...

Stock Market is the bottom in?

I wish I was Trumps buddy, probably could have made 20% by shorting the market last week and buying in yesterday before these announcements

    Ag to Grasses

Could you plant native grasses around your apple trees or move the apples elsewhere? That area seems like a good spot for switch as a bedding/staggjng area out of the woods towards your field and is farther from the road Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Dividend Check

I was on board with cutting government spending and waste but using it to cut rich men's taxes is a huge load of BS. Screw all these guys, both D and R, no one really cares or is serious about making things better and you're a fool to think otherwise

    Dividend Check

I never knew until recently...1.9% of all workers in the US work for the federal government. That is insane. I'm all good with cutting workers, that's too big of government. I wish it would be done in a more organized manner, to keep a higher percentage of the good ones. I also wish the money...

If you could change one regulation in your state

I don't have any huge gripes here in Wisconsin. I've thought one buck per year no matter what weapon, gun, bow, etc. That might help some bucks make it another year. Also. I'd reduce the number of extra seasons, youth hunters can just use a cross bow instead of rifle if they want to go earlier...

Anyone ever sell their land, because of the time commitment and costs ?

Howbouthemdawgs is right. Its about having to do the work versus wanting to do the work. I let my plots go this year and my apple trees didn't get sprayed enough and I haven't gotten all the stands in place I want, but I'm not sweating it. There's gonna be deer out there to hunt this fall either...

Road builder wants to rent a yard

The 30' deep sewer would be able to serve your land, they would just put in a riser on your lateral. If the elevation goes down on your land as you get further from the road, the deeper sewer actually helps you serve more of your land without a lift station, should you ever develop it or sell it...

Last Year's Standing Rye and Clover

Thanks Diesel I will continue with the plan. I'm hopeful the added height increases the plots usage this year. Hoping to still broadcast some radishes in the areas where the clover did not come in as thick to add to the draw. Did you spray to terminate the rye then after the second year and...

Last Year's Standing Rye and Clover

The plot is 1.5 acres. I overseeded 2 bags of rye last fall over the plot. Do you think the rye seed is already viable for reseeding? I guess I was assuming if I mowed the area for a brassica planting now, there wouldn't be any germination yet. Maybe I'll mow it now and wait 2 weeks, then...

Last Year's Standing Rye and Clover

Hi All, I have a plot that was planted last year in clover, brassicas and overseeded with winter rye. This year the rye and clover have come back and looks great. I like the standing rye for the cover this summer. The clover has filled in nicely in about 50% of the plot. I am thinking about...

Food plots SW Wisconsin for November

I hunt in an area near an old orchard that was sold off 20+ years ago. Between the apple trees, the place has grown into thick rasberry, grasses, shrubs and brush. Its the best cover in the area and the deer utilize it plenty because of that cover and the apple food source. If I were you I would...

    Chestnut tree leaf issue

I think they will be ok if they still have 2-3 leaves survive, next year they will bounce back. It looks like the bottom leaves will not make it and turn brown and die, but the top ones may survive
