Lost 200 trees in high winds/tornado

Well, I’m just getting started with clean up over M Memorial Day Weekend. Unfortunately, I ended up in the hospital for a week and then had a lifting restriction until now. I appreciate the input. Job 1 will be clear the trails with tractor and chain saws. I’ve got a couple of helpers so it...

Lost 200 trees in high winds/tornado

I’m trying to look on the bright side and I know there is one. That first look is tough though. There is only so much I can do. I have 8 of them down across logging roads and two in the neighbors field I will have to deal with. Maybe a few others to try and move deer one way or another. Other...

Lost 200 trees in high winds/tornado

Lost ~200 trees to high winds/tornado this past Monday (4/28). I was just up to the land yesterday for a look. I could tell I lost a few from my camera picks, but didn’t expect anything like this. It is a disaster area in some parts. Most of the trees lost were mature sugar maples and hemlocks...

    Carry weapon and holster

Browning made/ makes a 1911 in 380 auto. Love that little thing. Fits in my pocket and so easy to chamber one. I don’t keep one hot while carrying, Always felt the opportunity for an accident wasn’t worth the 1-2 seconds to rack one.

If you could change one regulation in your state

For WI mine would be a minimum antler restriction on bucks. I guess a fork would be logical. You just see so many spikes, threes, and small 4’s. Give them a chance to grow a bit. Go shoot a doe.

    Stump Bucket for Tractor

I bought a stump bucket along with my Bobcat CT2035 last year. I can’t imagine not having it. It was great for a lot of tasks. I put in 2 x 140 gallon tanks in a snap using it to dig. Dug a lot of rocks and stumps out with it too. So far so good on wear but I’ll keep in mind some of the thoughts...

Do you remember it being colder

Here is some food for thought. I’ve never bought into the man made global warming idea. You have some tie and interest watch Climate the movie (YouTube. Lot of experts that are saying the whole hoax is unraveling. Maybe we should be more concerned about the amount of garbage and plastics on this...

Hunting / recreation and timberland values in your location?

I just bought my slice 2 years ago at 54. Only regret is I didn’t do it sooner. I may have an opportunity to add adjacent acreage in the future. I would no doubt do it if I can. From what I’ve seen other properties very near me listed for in the past year I think I got a pretty good deal and...

    Pill For Ticks

I don’t seem to have a big tick problem where I’m at. Had a few on my clothes the first year/ first time out on the property. Started using permethrin on my clothes right after that and haven’t had a tick on me since. I’ll stick with the perm.

    Rootstock

Sounds good, I’ll keep them damp and hold off a couple weeks. I agree, I think it will turn soon and can feel better about planting them. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
