    The hunting cabin

Work slowly continues on the.cabin. Should have the exterior completely finished next week. Road restrictions should be lifted in a couple weeks so they can pour slabs and then start on the interior.

Do you think deer can sense trail cameras ?

Deer will hear and notice trail cams. I don’t believe it scares them off or they avoid them. The likes of Don Higgins and some of the other most successful buck hunters use them. That’s good enough proof for me not to worry.

    The hunting cabin

Made a stop at the woods today and was very happy to see the progress in the last week. They.started framing Monday. Amazed at what got done. Builder says they are going to enclose it and heat it up so they can pour slabs. Now I’m getting excited.

    Cuddelink general Q&A recommendations

Is that zoom appropriate for trails or just normal IR if you don’t want the color at night?

    Cuddelink general Q&A recommendations

Planning on making the move to the Cuddelink system this spring. I have been running a bunch of Tactacam cams for several years. Gets more expensive every time I add to my cams. And I swear their picture quLaity has gone so\uth the longer I have them. As I look to put together a system my first...

    The hunting cabin

Not a lot of progress in the last month. Looks like the septic is in and some prep for plumbing. Next decent stretch of weather they are going to start framing. Builder was hoping next week.

    The hunting cabin

4’ frost walls were poured this week and much of the fill around the walls. Slabs up next. I swear every neighborhood deer and raccoon has come over to check it out based on the tracks.

    The hunting cabin

Friday afternoon before gun season they showed up and put in the footers. Yesterday I was up there and see they have the forms sitting there for the 4’ frost walls. Anyone familiar with concrete work? Is it OK long term to pour concrete during the winter? I did a little reading and see there is...

Cwd podcast that is actually very good

I’ve never had my deer tested and therefore never had to make a decision on whether to consume a positive deer or not. I suspect I would go ahead and eat it. If the DNR was that worried about it maybe they should do more than put useless baiting bans into effect and try and get hunters to kill...

    Wisconsin Opener

I saw 2 opening day and passed on both. A small buck and a doe. My buddy’s son shot a doe and my buddy shot a nubby. We all saw a few deer. I did not see anything Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday morning. Opening day seemed to have good activity around us. Haven’t had anything on camera since the...

    Fluid Film & Wool Wax

I’ve used Fluid Film on the underside of my last Jeep. It has a bit of a following among some Wrangler owners. Depending on where you live (weather) and how you use the vehicle you might have to reapply a bit more often. Stuff stays on pretty well and does the trick if you can keep up with it.

    The hunting cabin

Ah, the joys of the building process. They started digging for the foundation 12 days ago. I was supposed to have concrete 9 days ago. Stopped by today and they don’t even have the footings in. Had a nice stretch of weather for it and that appears to be coming to an end. Nothing is going to get...

    Old Fashion'ed

I am a whiskey old fashioned sweet guy. Make them from scratch with orange slice, sugar, and cherry muddle. I don’t experiment much, but will have to try the Luxardo cherries. Love those in my Manhattan! My job takes me many places. Crazy how many different OF recipes you run into when...

    The hunting cabin

How long does that 500 gallon tank of propane last you? I’ll be running furnace and AC off it for sure.
