Habitat tree / shrub orders for spring 2017 ??

Ordered 200 American Hazel, 200 silky dogwoods, 5 Mountain Ash and 5 American Chestnut from Cold Stream and 100 spruce and 200 American Plum from WI DNR today. After putting in over 15,000 trees in the last 3 years - thought I would give myself a little break this year.

    2016 NUT/ SEED EXCHANGE

Life has been hectic, my normal collecting areas didn't have much of any acorn crop and didn't have time to search anywhere else. If anyone has any type of acorns from northern source, I would be interested in 50 or so. My daughters enjoy starting the trees and watching them grow. Hate to...

Under armour giving into the anti's or in the right?

Starting to see how Steve feels having a discussion with Dipper... Your statement is flat out false. Any ethical financial advisor (not just a CFP) that charges a management fee would not collect the management fee and the "kickback" as you call it and the majority of the firms out there would...

Under armour giving into the anti's or in the right?

That may be true. He may not "charge" a fee but he is still getting paid from somewhere. Back to my point - you may be in a no-load mutual fund but as you said above - he is getting .25% from the fund company. If that is the case and assuming it is not an IRA and you meet the requirements...

Under armour giving into the anti's or in the right?

Nope - 100% correct in my statement. Based on the fact that it is your brother - I'm going to assume you just trust him to handle the money and he didn't fully discuss with you the in's and out's of the investments because there is a difference between the no load version of a fund (which you...

Under armour giving into the anti's or in the right?

There is not a standard "kickback" to a CFP. If your CFP is getting .25% from the fund company - your most likely not in the lowest cost share class. If your CFP is saying there is no fee to deduct, it is because you are in a higher cost mutual fund that is paying him and you don't get to...

    acorn preferences

Deer hammer the northern pin acorns at the property I have permission to hunt closer to home. As Bueller mentioned, might be regional though, since the majority of the oaks in that area are pin oaks with very few white oaks to be found.

    Northwoods Habitat

Went up to spray on Saturday to get my 3rd plot in this weekend. Had a chance to take a quick look around. Got the 1st apples on the trees that we put in 3 springs ago! Dunstans that went in about the same time are coming along nicely.

    Northwoods Habitat

Look forward to giving them a try. The dunstans that I planted 3 years ago are doing great and have had little die back each spring. Your Chinese looked great this spring and I hope they continue to improve (I will try to get you a few pictures next time I am up.) I also planted these plugs...

    The Throw n’ Mow Method

Probably going about it in the wrong order but based on everything I'm reading, possible I could run the disc over this without spraying and my brassica mix may be okay? Very worried about spraying around the crabapples but would have no problem attempting to either throw'n mow or disc in...

    Chestnuts and QDM

I got chestnuts from wbpdeer 2 years ago and last fall. The ones that I got two years ago and transplanted into their permanent homes last fall are doing great. I'm in northern Oconto County.

    Northwoods Habitat

The cages trees you see in the pictures above are the crabapples that I picked up from the NWTF last spring. Yes to the birches, aspen/poplars. The 2 farthest to the right of the picture are birch trees. The stand of white-trucked trees are aspen. If I am remembering correctly, aspens are a...

    Northwoods Habitat

Last weekend I was able to cut in the food plot that goes with the watering hole. Weeds were pretty high but the old Murray didn't have any issues. This is the area after mowing. I'm standing next to the watering hole looking back to the north.
