    Raccoon trapping

I got the neighbor kid at my ohio place trapping coons and possum out.....but he (and his mom) are only on board to live/HAH cage trap and relocate. They like seeing "our" deer and squirrels but not the army of raccoons. Bittersweet advent of the last week.

    Interesting Iowa DNR Story

If the world was as simple as good guys and bad guys this would be easier....here in NY theyll fly a drone looking for tax codes all day, poachers dont matter. Your neighbor who is 13 or 31 may be flying one over your kids in the pool too...... wont get any help with that. Our government has...

TN Legalizes Baiting for Deer - for $50

same in NY....then to get a conservation officer there would be like winning a small lottery and theyll say "unless i see them kill the deer over it i cant do anything", I would suspect that baiting in states where most do not do it has better attraction/outcomes

TN Legalizes Baiting for Deer - for $50

The HUNTR podcast guys have this right; There is not a single DNR that (in totality) care about deer beyond wanting as many dead as they can get. Granted not all biologist are bad and many of these agencies are hamstrung by politicians making the actual decisions..but we are paying hungry fox to...

TN Legalizes Baiting for Deer - for $50

Id pay $500 and maybe even consider 5000 for baiting to be illegal in OH. God bless you folks...$50 is like worrying about the Ambulance ride bill when you're having a stroke......

    Failed grafts - next step?

Went through mine this weekend. Very depressing. Not only am i the proud owner of may failed grafts, a good portion is due to failed root stock. My apples did way better last year (110, 111, 118 rootstock?) than these pears. So much time and effort.....removed some tape to see dead non calloused...

    Beans vs alfalfa

My wNY take on the crops, not necessarily the antler outcome (which also seems to follow the weather dependent theme). A random one for us lifelong antler addicts; Anyone remember the QDMA article on the correlation between Alfalfa regions and record book entries ? Beans are an amazing draw...

    Failed grafts - next step?

Have a weird go this yr. Grafted a ton of apples and pears. Almost all of my pears (three varied root stock) do not seem to be doing anything yet despite the rootstock all leafing out. Just knicked a few scions yesterday and they were green cambium lower (though some of the tips were dried out)...

    Ahhhh cereal rye

So for those of you leaving yours (which is my plan after mowing and then getting hung on the ropes by drought), when are you addressing it and how?

    Dividend Check

I wonder how many Americans think that government is doing what it was assembled to. do.....or if there is a chance it could ever be reeled inward(at all)

What Is Your Best Smelling Wild Plant

We have a privet bush by the house that is incredible and a pollinator mecca. Big fan of Lilacs and Magnolia. No one is into TOH or Callery Pear? 😜

What is your ideal habitat working dog?

I love dogs....especially Labs, Beagles and GSPs for the respective hunting. Down to two, but had 5 at one point.....even raising gamebirds to entertain both the dogs and I. We will finally call it quits for good after these. Theyre amazing animals, companions and partners but they take so much...
