Incredibly detailed observation Telemark! There is a little ding on the end that I'd attribute to over-tightening. Doesn't seem like enough to allow gas escape, but I dunno...maybe? I think I'm retiring this tube and just ordered a Carlsons extended tube as a replacement. Still working on...
Definitely correct tube (came with gun from factory) and definitely screwed all the way in very tight. I oiled it up heavily before installing and wondering if the oil burned during alot of shooting. I cleaned up the choke tube and the copper gas seal band is discolored and rusty
Got it out. Still wouldn't budge after a 2nd day of soaking, so I wedged the old wrench into my bench vise and beat the magazine tube holder on the barrel with a rubber mallet until it broke free. Still had to fight it the whole way out. This pic is after I cleaned it up some....no idea how...
No luck with the half day soak in 3in1 oil and the old wrench. Its back soaking waiting on new wrench tomorrow. If that doesn't work, I'll switch to PB.
The 3in1 penetrating oil was reasonably priced and the container was right sized for dunking the barrel into. By submerging the end of the...
The overnight sit in the freezer didn't work, heating with a hair dryer didn't work....it's sitting in an overnight bath of 3in1 penetrating oil and will report back...
I just put it in the freezer and will try that first. If that doesn't work, I'll try heat next.
I broke 1 of the 4 plastic tabs on the choke wrench that came with the gun...still works but even less torque before the tool pops out. I ordered a Carlson steel wrench that gets here in a few...
I have a choke tube seized up in a Browning A5. I'm planning to soak in a penetrating oil and wondering if anyone knows of an oil that won't damage the paint finish on the outside of the barrel?
Thanks in advance
