Dealing with Stumps on large properties

I have a similar situation with a red pine plantation that was clear cut four years ago and I am trying to decide how I want to clear out some new food plots. About 15 years ago I did manage to clear out a 2 acre plot with a tractor loader backhoe on a 6 year old clear cut. Back then the trees...

    Firewood?

If your heated floor is hydronic , you might be interested in this. I installed a hydronic heat system in the concrete floor of my little man cave in my pole shed years ago. Then a while back I inherited this wood stove and decided to install it here and integrate it to the hydronic heat. My...

    Firewood?

Everybody's got their thing. For me there nothing better than being in the woods dropping trees with a nice light weight professional chainsaw and sharp chain. As far as the woman in yoga paints , I get more satisfaction from porn hub. 😀

    Firewood?

Nobody here has mentioned burning pine. Granted when it's cold , like it is now nothing beats hard wood (oak for me) for keeping the fire going with some nice coals. But I like burning nice seasoned lite red pine in the shoulder season for a quick short fire. Most people think pine will build up...

No snow cover with a forecast of 20 below tonight

I didn't even think about the Miscanthus. I have a strip of it that I planted as a test plot about 4 years a go. I've been whacking down last years growth for a thick mulch layer. This will be a good test. I'm hopping this cold snap will take out some of the weeds in my food plots, but that is...

No snow cover with a forecast of 20 below tonight

I don't remember the last time we didn't have any snow cover in central Wisconsin in the middle of January. I'm wondering how this will impact my food plots and the local farmers, Alfalfa, clover, winter wheat and rye. If we do have a wide scale winter kill, how will this impact the deer...

I told her "It's an investment"

Right now I'm planting about 2.5 acres. I'm working on creating some new plots in a clear cut red pine plantation with lots of field stone. The stump removal is a slow process. I'm hoping to get another acre ready for planting this year. I am not sure just how clean I need to get the field...

I think that might be also referred to the the native grass box. I didn't think I would find a need to have it neither.

I didn't know they even had a warm season box. How is that different from the main and small seed box?

If the ground wasn't froze I'd be out there playing with it now. I think the SHIF is already happening. It's just too slow for most people to notice. Just take a look at California's wildfire prevention efforts. As long as I can still buy diesel fuel, seed and fertilizer, I'll be happy.

I told her "It's an investment"

I want to start by saying thanks to all of the members here that helped provide all the great information for me to make the decision to buy this 3P606NTno till drill. I’ve been wanting to buy a no till for quite a few years but never could seem to find a nice use one for a price I could justify...

    More cage questions

I think it really depends on your area, deer density and how hungry the deer get in the middle of winter. I think white pines are a lower preference food for deer but if they don't have a lot of other higher preference food available they will eat them. I have literally thousands of naturally...

    More cage questions

In my area I would never think of protecting a white pine. They are like weeds here. I do find it interesting to see how other people from different parts of the country manage their land. I have also come to the realization that deer seem to prefer to eat or destroy anything I do plant. I...
