    Canning 101

Google oven canning. I would never can meat this way though, obviously. I've read the info on pressure canning meat as well. My grandparents canned venison using what they called cold packing. Meat should be free of fat and sinew, i.e. clean meat. Place in jars about an inch from the top and a...

    Canning 101

Bill, You don't need a pressure cooker to do that. Yeah, it's quicker and more efficient but not required. We cold pack a lot of venison and never have an issue. I learned off another method this summer from a buddy's wife. She can's fruits and veggies by first heating the product then placing...

    Liberal teachers pushing their views

Telemark, That's the exact comparison she made as far as specific drugs. Her and I debated that detail as well. I'm ignorant when it comes to such drugs and the laws surrounding them. It's something I've never concerned myself with. I still can't wrap my head around the logic of it though...

    Liberal teachers pushing their views

Wait till college... I had a conversation with my daughter when she was in her second year. Her premise was the US legal system is racist against African Americans. Her supporting argument was that penalties are higher for certain drugs. Some of these certain drugs are also easier to obtain and...

    Movable Work Table

I use mine all the time in my wood shop and for butchering and processing. I works great for larger projects. You can work on different parts without having to move the project. I can move the project aside if something else comes in more pressing. I can get 4 guys cutting up deer or whatever...

Who's working in the woods this weekend?

Not in the woods but reroofed the cabin last Saturday. Had 3 buddies come up and help. I provided the meals and refreshments. Sent them all home with a bottle of there favored drink as well. Started at 7:30am, finished up at 5:30pm. 2 of them stayed the night and had a nice campfire. No wolves...

WI gun deer season proposal to 19 days.

Like a lot of things in life, the more humans mess with it the more FUBAR it gets.... After 44 years of deer hunting I kinda like the reboot idea. 1 bow season Sept to Nov. 1 9 day gun season. Hunters with tags in hand will get it done.

    Tractor purchase choices choices

A good friend of mine runs an LS. Loves it, no issues for the 3 or 4 years he's owned it. He went with it for the same reasons you mentioned. He has a fel and back hoe for it.

    fishing reports

Back home last Saturday evening from our father\son fishing trip to Voyageurs Park in northern MN. We camp the entire week on a group site. Sadly, we are all getting a little older and at the stage in life when only 4 of the 16 were actually sons. Great food and great fun was had by all. No...

ATV Implement for New Food Plot

No experience with either of those. Just looking at them you're going to need to add a fair amount of weight. I have a 4' King Kutter. I have to add a lot of weight for new ground. Once its worked I can run without and it does a decent job.

    fishing reports

I like to fish for what's biting at the time. I do have methods I prefer to use though. Sometimes I won't fish at all if the patterns I like to use and am setup for aren't working. I did spend about 20 years chasing musky, almost exclusively. The 27" is my biggest this year so far pulling cranks...

After seeing all the offshore pics and size of the fish I'm not sure it's even worth mentioning all the walleyes I've been getting the last couple weeks....:emoji_yum:

    Alaskan Mill

A friend of mine has one. It's a lot of work and a lot of waste in the kerf. If you have ever sawn a tree with the grain you know what I mean. You'll need a saw cable of powering a bar long enough to make the cut. You won't end up with lumber resembling that cut on an actual sawmill but it has...
