    Top 3 pears

I believe I have remedied the pear tree situation and selling out so fast for next year. I'm not saying they will be for sale for months, but they could be, or at least you shouldn't need to stay awake at night to get some. There is a large number of 2-year-old pears already growing. Ryan

    Korean Giant Pear Seeds

I have grown Pyrus betulaefolia out to fruit, and you will see good results with a lot of 1'' plus-sized fruit. I may have some inside the cage, and the pollinators would have been Sweet Advent, Ayers, or Bartlett, as these are the closest trees.

Rest in peace (Chainsaw) apples, apples and more apples

Today we lost a good one as David Whalen met the lord. To many of us, we knew him as "Chainsaw" For those of us who knew him outside the forum. He was a guy who would give the shirt off his back and help anyone he could. Dave loved this forum and writing about his experiences. Whether that was...

    Turning Point- Blue Hill

I talked to Chainsaw this evening, and he is doing well...considering, although you won't see him write, it was great to hear his voice! I'm sure he will love seeing you guys asking him to write! Turning Point is in the direct vicinity of every apple tree disease in this country. Im not saying...

    What’s bugging my fruit trees?

Beetles, come in July. They Pretty much stay for the month and leave by the end of the month. Well, in most parts of the country. Some harm was done but otherwise, leave the central leader intact, and that leader is most important when you are not close by on young trees.

    Morse Hybrid Pear

Hybrid means Hyrbrid= Seedling you will be fine as it is not a grafted tree.

    Is this apple scab?

That is not scab, especially with it being well mowed in that area ( #1 way to stay scab free is mowing) unless there are trees within the direct vicinity with scab and your not mowing under them (composting the leaves at a faster rate). Still, it's a Chestnut Crab, and as that tree matures, you...

    What's wrong with my Honeycrisp

I'm in central Pa and Snyder county as you are, to be exact, and I held on to mine for three or four years until I eliminated them. I would grow an apple seedling 50 times over before I ever grow another Honeycrisp, and that's a fact! I could elaborate on this much more, but I'm close if you...

    Fruit Tree Buying Season

If you need help grafting them over, let me know as you could still give them a little chip bud and be off to the races next spring!

    Going to War with borers

You can save that one tree yet if you use a systemic pesticide on it asap... Follow the direction as this product is mixed with water and applied to the roots. Bonide makes a good one, but I'm sure there are others. I had a problem with borers on one of my properties. I used a half gallon of...

    When to t-bud in 5b?

Hi everyone, I believe this may be my first time posting. I think you will have much better success using a chip bud over a T Bud, no matter the species. Line the cambiums up and seal in the moisture using parafilm, and with parafilm, you don't haft to remove it as it will fall off itself. I...
