Why is there such a lack of value to a human life in today's society?

My life is worth a hell of a lot more than that to me and my family. Same with my family's lives. We have a justice system for a reason. Even though it can be unfair or even at times crooked. We don't get to play judge, jury, and executioner in this life, not in this country.

RIP Piper, sorry for your loss.

    The Home 70

I burned the pollinator prairie by my driveway this spring and the response has been mostly good. I think I burned a little too early in the season because the resulting flush of dandelions was disappointing. I've also had to spot spray more thistle than I was expecting, so I'm not sure if that...

    Happy place?

Over the past several years I have come to love the Driftless area. For those who aren't aware, it is a region of the country along the Mississippi River that wasn't covered by ice during the Ice Age so it didn't get flattened by glaciers like much of the surrounding landscape. Here is a map...

    Drones in research

I found the video very informative. He's going to have a big following if he keeps producing content like this. Deer aren't robots, no two behave the same. Getting a better understanding of how they use terrain features with wind and thermal changes is helpful but not some super secret...

Foggy's Deertopia Proving Grounds - Happenings

Have to disagree with you on the improved varieties Omi. After planting both cave in rock and RC Bigrock, I'd pay triple for the RC (glad they don't charge triple).

Foggy's Deertopia Proving Grounds - Happenings

Planted into an old corn field, stubble was burned off.

Foggy's Deertopia Proving Grounds - Happenings

Foggy the only concern is planting too deep. You could go out there and dig up a "trench" to identify seeds and depth. My guess is the delay is from ground thatch keeping the soil cool. I know this doesn't help you but I planted RC Bigrock 19 days ago and its already 2" tall. It was on bare...

    River/Creek Crossings

We just got our hands on a few free 18" culverts and made some waterways in WI. Time will tell how they hold up, but I have high hopes they hold on for several years. You guys are posting pictures more of what I would call washed out drainages than actual waterways. Everything is relative to...

    River/Creek Crossings

The previous owners had livestock, which they (NRCS) never asked me about to my knowledge. I had tillable land that became better accessible because of the crossing, I think that was what got it approved.

    River/Creek Crossings

Yeah, its in the land tour thread, another forum member was asking me about it last year when I posted pics. Don't have it off the top of my head.

    River/Creek Crossings

I had one installed through EQIP, you can read more about it in my land tour thread, but basically.. Dig out crossing down ~6", lay erosion mat down, pack with stone. Has been installed almost a year and still looks great. Water runs over the stone, the mat holds the stone in place when water...
