I’ve made quite a bit of deer jerky on the dehydrator before and have never precooked it or even heard of precooking it before. I usually have my strips cut about 1/4” thick. I just set the dehydrator to 165 and let it do its thing.

We grow around 8-9 acres of pumpkins and squash with plastic mulch It works very well for us. We usually plant the longer day varieties with plastic as it helps them mature faster.

I see you are from MN. You would have no problem growing BW where you live. I farm on central ND and we raise BW as a crop every year. Just plant it the end of May beginning of June and you’ll have success with it.
