I just discovered this site this morning while trying to learn more about the Tar River no - till drill I recently purchased. My wife & I recently moved from western Illinois to be closer to our sons. We live on a 50 acre property north of Columbia, MO about 45 minutes. I am a retired wildlife biologist and still enjoy everything habitat. We arrived here last December & once the clothes were unpacked I grabbed my chainsaw & started building brush piles for rabbits. I conducted controlled burns of most of my wooded acreage last spring and once my drill arrived I started planting plots. I'm continuing to learn better ways to do things & I'm trying to drop the conventional methods of farming & go with no-till, cover crops, crimping & little or no herbicides to establish my plots. The weather conditions have not been the best in this part of Missouri but seed is in the ground. I'm looking forward to visiting this site frequently, learning new things, and hopefully be able to contribute good advice if wanted.

Welcome Kev! I'm also in Central MO.

Welcome Kev.

I've been lurking here for awhile and decided to join the party...My name is Chris and I live in NE Ohio. I'm retired Navy guy and spend my days hunting with my 2 sons(15 and 27) as well as grand kids. nieces and nephews all under 10yo. Not really a Trophy hunter, but have spent some time hunting Elk/Muleys in CO, Black Bear in NC and Maine, and now mostly just Whitetail here in Ohio.

Hi folks, just signed up as I signed a purchase agreement on a 40 acre parcel in Kanabec county MN this week. I live in Monticello and over the past 6 or so years have been focusing all of my hunting energy on western hunts (elk, muleys, sheep). My mom/stepdad also purchased a 170 acre parcel north of grand rapids 2 years ago which has opened my eyes to the rabbit hole of property/habitat management.

I'm looking forward to learning and seeking advice from the more experienced folks here.

Hey everyone. I have been managing a 110 acre "farm" in NW PA and my wife and I just purchased 97 acres of woodland that was heavily timbered so it's a great place to start for habitat in Warren County. I purchased a tractor last year and have been upgrading my equipment and techniques over a decade from hand tools to a side by side to a tractor/tiller and I just purchased a Saya 505 no till. I plan to post about that to review it as there is a thread on here about its bigger brother the 507. I plan to go full no till next year.

Welcome Wolfpack.

Awesome, how's your preparations for season coming along?

Excellent. Keep us posted on your experience with your 505 .
