Cool thing about this water setup is its in an awesome buck hangout during rut. There are a bunch of low hanging branches and scrapes within 5-10 ft of the tank. I'm going to add a rub post near it as well.

Fish stocking day!!!
My son really wanted to help by touching every fish.

Pond is now stocked with bluegill, perch, blackcrappie, walleye, fatheads, shiners, sucker minnows, and grass shrimp. Fall I will add smallmouth and largemouth bass. Now the waiting begins!

The inner kid in me sees a great spot to do some Popsicle stick sailing and rock throwing. Also, some foot stomping and wet shoes.
Fun to be a kid, memories that last a lifetime.

Looks great, how deep? The kids are going to love fishing there. I would go with large mouth. You could grow some Giants in there and they will keep the sunnier in check a little. Smallies would probably be stunted in there. The good thing about sunnies is they taste great and if they get over populated they make great fertilizer.

It's 5-6ft deep. I'm hopefully adding a well for our future home by the end of the summer and I plan to add a discharge valve to keep the pond 6-8ft deep. It should only need to be run a few times a year to maintain that depth.

I added some Bluegill last year in the pond and they grew nicely. The bite was on!

This has really been a fun project and definitely has changed the recreational opportunities on my property. I love doing the habitat projects for deer and pheasants but being able to catch some fish as well is pretty cool. Now it's time to get the sprayer out to battle the thistle problem ahead of me.

Absolutely! I just started to do some fly fishing but I need a little more experience. I have been getting some of the small sunnies to surface on a dry fly. It should be a lot of fun once I get some bass in there.
