More to your point. We were going to try again today but the marine forecast changed over night and I said no (much to sons disappointment)

don’t know what happened here. May have been mechanical. Latest report says all 3 are alive and well. No mention of the boat. We wanted to try this trip for 3 years. Getting that day was special.

I don’t recommend it because some guy on the internet did it…..

but it did teach me we need a bigger boat.

I have fished the Atlantic a quite a bit from North Carolina to Miami, not much water depth change for the first 20 miles. Depending on where you are at, you have to get out past 40 before the break.
I have never fished north of North Carolina, and I haven’t fished the gulf except from Galveston.
I have fished in the Bahamas, and one trip from US Virgin Islands.
I would say my best shark fishing was from Galveston, and Myrtle Beach area. We tried down in the Virgin Islands, but missed a few bites, then decided to deep water fish for smaller fish, it’s a blast pulling 10 pound fish from a couple hundred feet of water. More of a work out then I anticipated.
 
Hope you brought some of that rain with you from Illinoise. Fishing Leech or Winni or something like that?
 
Sure was hot today on Lanier! Got up to 92 by noon and felt like it was hotter.

We got on the water early and marked new brush piles for the first 30-45 minutes. Went to one known brush pile in Shoal Creek and caught a couple, then went and marked new piles and fished them for the rest of the day. The fluke bite is slowing down due to surface temps being in the mid 80's, but the drop shot bite is still strong. Best ones were in the 3-3.25# range, but most were 1-2.5. We stuck it out until 1:30 but should have left around 11.

Logan is going back tomorrow, but think I am done until it cools off.

Pretty strong cell pass thru outta Red Lake last nt. Heard baseball hail at Bemidji. We are on the Cass chain. Mostly a night bite. Really proud of my 6 yr old girl getting her biggest fish last nt. 21"

Well it was 86 out and she was dry and begs to go every session even though we have to take turns. It was late and she was tired. Guys in the cabin next to us took a guide out on Winnie yest and boated 48 walleye they said.

Nice honey hole you got there. Perch have been hard to find by my cabin since the cormorants moved in.
 
I was on a mission to catch some sunfish on a little honey hole. They didnt wanna cooperate, but these big stinky greenbacks couldnt help themselves. I absolutely clobbered a bunch of 3-5lb fish in this little 20 acre puddle. No motor, just some oars. Wildfire smoke sucked. Fished that jig on 8lb mono and a medium action spinning reel with 4" bait. Casting in 6-15 feet of crystal clear water. The strongest damn bass I have ever come across. Good grief my drag was screaming and they kept plowing me into the weeds. They were pulling my ass all over the place in that boat. :emoji_stuck_out_tongue: I dont eat bass so they all got lucky.

We use a similar jig here for spotted bass called a spy head. What is that one called.
 
That is a northland Whistler jig, and some cheapo walleye angler plastic that I slipped on it.
