Logan and I went out Saturday morning. Realized rather quickly we should have fished the tournament since we had over 18 # by 8:00. Fishing was so good we decided to go back Sunday morning. Not quite as many big spots, but Logan landed a couple striper and we found a decent LM bite. Here are a few pics.

My youngest just sent me this pic, he said they were really biting. Every cast, said he caught over fifty bluegills.
Makings for another fish fry!

What's your favorite method for catching walleye?

Light rod combined with finessing plastics in the narly stuff, distanct second would be pitching rapalas, specifically the #11 original floater.

Wife will only throw the #5 shad rap, and she can fill the stinger just as fast.

Bite has been on fire the past couple weeks.

My youngest caught her first ever walleye up north for memorial. Certainly picked a nice one. She almost melted the gears on her reel this trip. We must have caught 100s of crappies and she just does not get sick of it. WE LOVE to crappie fish. They were creaming little tiny gulp minnows on 1/32 oz jigs under a bobber. The older I get the more I love to eat fish. We had a great fry up north and I brought a bag home. She also got a 31" northern, but I dont think we took a picture.

Annual trip in search of gills turned up aces. Only have 2 lakes in the region with a moderate population worth fishing. The100* temps about roasted us out of the boat. Hard to beat a simple slip bobber and a chunk of crawler sometimes.

If anyone has some tips on a better way to fillet them, I'm all ears.

Try scaling the whole fish and cutting out the dorsal fin and gutting. Then dredge and fry whole.

If you need filets, with a sharp knife, take the whole filet off, the cut away rib section and skin the filet with a flexible knife.

Should take about twenty seconds per fish, trim up filets a little. Rinse and they are ready!

Recently traveled to Lake Mille Lacs to get in on some top shelf smallmouth action and although fishing conditions were tough and very COLD, I still connected on a good number of big smallies. :) Got some bonus walleye too, but caught probably 15 of the 20 biggest smallies in my life...in tough fishing conditions. I was happy.

I am told that we didn't even get into the really big ones. I had a couple that were right at 22" and several between 19" and 21"+. I look forward to returning sometime when it is not so cold.
