worms

For those that like to start plants indoors, have you ever added worms in soil in effort to have a healthy soil mix?

Short answer - no. I did try soil straight from my garden last year, thinking it would have lots of soil life and good fertility. My pepper plants did not respond, and stalled after they got a few inches tall. Went back to a sterile starting mix from the store this year and they grew very well again. I think removing soil, or earthworms, from their natural environment causes a loss of benefit.

Did you know, an average full grown adult earthworm can move up to 240 feet in one hour?

I mixed peet moss, manure, top soil and miracle grow plant mix into a large bin, planted nuts on top and have bin sitting covered in garage. [Due to several of the nuts already expressing a radicle] it rained other day and several worms out across driveway. I thought why not, picked up about 18, dropped them into bin. thought was merely to try and replicate a more natural environment
