Was checking fence after the storms and run across this tree. Don't remember seeing anything like this before and was just curious as to what caused it.

That or "leaf gall" caused by some kind of mite. Usually harmless even though it looks kind of funky.

Ive got some maple trees that have that gall on them. Doesn’t seem to harm them.
