I think you got it. Specifically, it may be Eastern DF. A google search showed a couple varieties. Some had more narrow leaves, but the pics of the Eastern variety look just like the ones in the OP pics, and in my plots, too. My deer eat it after it gets a foot tall, or so.

Not GR. I've never seen deer browse GR.
