My apples trees in Vermont had apples first time this year. I hope he leaves them alone.

At our camp, the younger bears are the big problems too. Older ones don't seem to want to expend the energy to climb apple trees and go " nuts " on objects they see as toys or curiosities. Older bears just wander around and take the " easy pickens " of dropped apples, nuts, acorns, corn. The younger ones are like kids - anything new warrants investigation / play. Which usually = damage.

Bears suck! I just had another cam get a puncture through the IR lens cover, it was on the edge of my bean/corn transition. Cam still works as it fell face down so no water got inside but still a pain. I've been trying to be really diligent about wearing rubber gloves when touching the cams and have quit using red blob cams as they got attacked quickly when the red was seen by bears. The bears seemed to have moved away from my corn thankfully. Local biologist said they would leave the corn once it dried out from the milky stage. So far, she appears correct.

I still get pics like your second one almost every cam check. As others mentioned, having the cam easily come off the tree has been a savior and keeping them scent free is very important.

Got this shot of a crabby sow right before she repositioned my camera.
