Turkeys

ksgobbler

5 year old buck +
First I wish I would’ve know my date was off. Gonna walk down and fix it shortly. Also a deer rubbed on the camera and knocked it sideways before pic one and two. Hoping to see that double bearded gobbler soon.9B05EAC7-31F9-4CB2-88EF-035CA8A28942.jpeg77F1E038-437D-48F1-B3D4-CF5ABBF94D80.jpeg

I wanna see a pic of you holding that double beard up!

Our season starts in eight days.

Yeah! I have never even heard of a double bearded turkey.

You going to hunt, h2o? I'm going to give it a try.

Nice!

I'm getting fired up.

Oh heck ya!
We don’t have a large turkey population like other parts of the state but I’m lucky enough that my bigger place is in a good area that has some.
I hunt our farm and two of my neighbors right next to me. Have gotten two off our place and two off neighbors in last four or five years.
Last year I don’t think I had a morning where I didn’t at least see a hen.

I also have 3 bearded hens in the flock picture and several jakes

Theres alot more multiple bearded turkeys over east.Back when I hunted over there it was mostly easterns,I have only seen one rio with multi beards

We have rio/eastern hybrids. I killed a 3 bearded jake 15 years ago.

Weird year. Called in 5 hens including a bearded hen at 0915 this morning. No male birds. Bearded hen is a legal bird but I let her walk

Came face to face with the strutter and double beard guy about 145 as I was headed to my next spot. Don’t think they realized what I was. Pics from this morning. Also called in a single hen about 1 pm.

Missed one today. Hit a public spot I haven’t hunted in years. Called an a bird answered. He gobbled at everything and crossed the river to get to me. I missed at 25 yards as he got nervous

I've been out three times so far haven't seen a bird yet, first day out I heard what sounded like a jake far in the distance.
Yesterday morning a hen was yelping in the woods until I started saw up to clear a couple trails where dead ash have fallen. This afternoon a big Tom was strutting along the woods in slow mo...going to try for him in morning.

Bird down. Long story regarding last night and this morning.

Cool Pics! Wonder how long the spurs are on "Ole Doublebeard"?
Hopefully in a few months we will get to find out.
