Too late to fertilize clover?

There has been very little rain here in SE Ohio, so I have held off fertilizing my clover. There is some rain forecasted this week and I was wondering if it would do me any good to try now? Thanks for the help.

Are you trying to fertilize with phosphorus or potassium? Generally legumes like clover do not need nitrogen fertilizer as they get some help from rhizobia to make some for themselves.

6-24-24 is what my local feed store has.

Do 1/2 of the field and see how it does. I've done labor day in zone 3 before with no problems. Likely was 1/2 triple 15 1/2 6-24-24. Think I fertilized once there in December on the snowmbile trail.

Ideally, I like to use 6-24-24 when I till. Potassium and phosphorus takes awhile to get into the soil. I rarely go over 150 lbs / acre locally on my clay soil. Up north is mostly sand, so I go as little as 50 lbs / ace of 6-24-24 or 40 lbs / acre 0-0-46 potash.
