Screen protection question

john volkman

5 year old buck +
wondering if those that are using the window screen to protect your apple tree from rodent damage are using the fiberglass or the aluminum version? the fiberglass is less expensive but im wondering if its as effective at deterring voles etc.

Aluminum. If the rodents want to try chewing, it's gonna cost them some teeth !!

I've been using fiberglass screening and have not had any problems. BUT... if I were to start over I would use aluminum to be on the safe side.

The aluminum will hold up to the elements longer.

I'm a tube guy personally but on trees to branched to tube I like fiberglass screen because it dose in fact fall apart. Figgure it will hopefully fall apart before girdle the tree if I forget to remove

I have used both and noticed no difference yet.
