Scarlet oak seedlings

Angus 1895

5 year old buck +
I was struggling to pot all of the acorns I had gathered from Seattle

I ended up potting some in stryrofoam cups.

When I finally got my fiber pots from the Nuseriy that I transplanted the acorns into

The stryrofoam potted acorns had over double the radicle development compared to jiffy pots and red solo cups

I plan on repeating this next year in a more controlled study

I randomly found a scarlett oak seedling in my flower bed this year. It was in a rose bush we got from my inlaws. Must've had an acorn in the root ball. It's going to get transplanted this spring hopefully.
Had to talk wife out of ripping it along with a random redbud seedling out last summer.
