I am kind of stumped on what bird this is. I have never gotten anything on cam that looks like this. I have an idea of what it might be but does anyone know for sure? Thanks.
Dark phase rough-legged hawk. Banded tail is not found on immature golden eagle, and the white spot at the top of the beak is normal for a dark phase R-L hawk. Agree with Whip.
Coloration-wise, that 2nd one looks like an immature red-tailed hawk. The red develops later, but the tobacco-brown head and white upper breast feathers with lower dark barring are typical. No expert birder, but a long-time observer. ( with several bird books !! )
