Oak wasp gall?

nwmn

5 year old buck +
I was checking out an area we had mowed down two years ago and noticed on some oak regrowth something that resembles a strawberry growing. It's pretty disgusting to be honest. Is this a wasp fall? I saw it on a few different clumps.

Gouty oak gall by chance?

Yes. Wasp midge. Eventually if thus invasive enough it can kill the tree. Had it happen a couple of times.
