...but the outcome is just about the same. This field of ag soybeans was harvested Oct6 and as you can see, a pretty nice stand has emerged from waste grain that the combine didn't catch. These are a maturity group 5 variety, and will put on a surprising amount of growth before the first killing frost which in my area should happen within the next 10-15 days. In the meantime as you can imagine, the deer are absolutely pounding the tender new growth.

If there was any doubt about whether broadcast / throw'n mow soybeans will grow, here's the definitive answer.

I bet they are getting pounded. That’s a lot of bean sprouts.
 
I've seen that with wheat before that was left till the next spring.
