Lime When You Can

Freeborn

5 year old buck +
I had my placed limed today. I have to admit I cringed a bit when he drove over my corn and beans but I figure the deer won't care and I wanted to get it done. 12 Tons spread in about 30 minutes. With my sandy soil I figured it was a priority so I'm happy I got it done and have found a source for putting down lime.

This was Ag lime from Leaf Ag out of Wadena. $55 a ton delivered and spread. Well worth it in my opinion even if they have to run over a few crops. I would have preferred spring but they have larger customers who are their priority.

The long term benefit will far outweigh any short term negative effect on the deer that you will see this fall, if any.

They do make quick work of it with the lime truck. A neighbor and I had a local co-op come in last spring and lime our plots. Even nicer for me was the neighbor showed him where to go so I didn't have to leave work!
