Land Plane (Leveler) Build

Garrett2006

5 year old buck +
Getting started on building my 1st land plane to level off some small plots and maintain few driveways. Building mostly out of scape I have had laying around. Hope to have it finished in next week or so. Will be adding rippers to the front.

Nice work. That thing looks like it will last forever.

Thanks! Yea I’m hoping it will. Picked up some 2.5” wide by 1/2” thick flat metal to put on the bottom for skids. The sides are 1” thick. Little over kill, but will be plenty heavy and most of all free.

I love my land plane. I have made a lot of money with it I only have about $40.00 in it.A8E0F806-1825-438D-BBF0-A0156E2ACBD8.jpeg9D070B75-8E1F-483A-BF5F-6E859D738662.jpeg

Love to see it in action!

Those are nice. Great work. Wish I knew how to weld.

Shoot a video of it working a gravel driveway.

Got all the 3 point hitch & ripper shank brackets tacked into place today. Waiting on the 4” angle to come in & then will fully weld it up. I’ll definitely post a video of it in action once completed. I plan on drafting up my measurements sometime if anyone ever wants some plans. Do you recall how low you put your blades below the skids?

Been busy here lately, but managed to get mostly everything welded up. Metal for the blades are being cut at machine shop. Hoping to add them this week.A56B384A-54AC-4057-A89A-ED7102295E6E.jpeg

I think I went about 1” below on right hand side to help put a crown in my driveway. The left side is flush with the skid. And the angle iron is at about a 45 degree angle.

That 211 had to be sweating by the time you were done. Great looking build! Can't wait to see it in action.

It’s does pretty good, but I welded the thick side plates with a welder at work. Miller bobcat 250 and with suitcase feeding 5/64 wire. Ready to see how it does as well.

Got the skids welded on and the blades. Just got to heat and bend end of skids up & weld. Ended up not liking exactly how much play way in the bracket holding the rippers So, I’m going to cut & weld a bottom backing plate in the next few days. I Went with straight blades instead of angled. This was due to a lot of reading on the matter & possibly using it to level more than just roads. Hope it isn’t the wrong choice time will tell, but I think it’s going to work out.

Such a sweet build. You, sir, build things right!
This will take YEARS of abuse.

Exactly! I want to see that thing level some dirt. I don’t care if it’s just an anthill.
