What is this and can I eat it without bad stuff happening?

I am NOT a mushroom expert by any means. I used your photo and used INATURALIST to help ID.

I THINK what you have is a false morel, Gyromitra brunnea .
I will link to one of the articles I found and from what I gather , it is NOT recommended to eat.

I know several people that claim to eat those false morels with no ill effect I however am not that brave.
