I gave mine a "Big O" one year for x-mas.

Comes in 2, 2 1/2 and 3 inch lengths! dives from 2 to 6 foot deep!! and comes in 9 different colors!!!

I know it's too late to help for this gift but I would have said a youth safety vest. I started climbing trees on my baker mighty mite about that age. Of course we didn't wear or even know about safety back then. But we did have chest pads that looked sorta like an extra long bib that mom made for us. Sure made climbing with that baker less painful on the chest.
