Fescue Control in Native Grass

SwampCat

5 year old buck +
I have some “native prairie” - largely little bluestem with some indian grass and big seed or gamma grass. When I bought the place, I sprayed the existing fescue pastures with gly the first couple of years. The nwsg came in really well for the next 8 or so years, but The fescue is really thick this year in much of this area - about six or seven acres.

can I mow early feb and spray after a couple weeks growth. I hate to mow my cover down any earlier

I am in SW AR - 40 miles from TX

I don't know about clover specifically, but I had mine sprayed with imazapic (Plateau). It will kill fescue and not hurt a lot of your natives. I know it killed fescue and johnsongrass for sure. Here's a good publication from Dr. Harper about renovating old NWSG stands.
