Dappled willow

andrew

5 year old buck +
Are these zone 4 hardy and will they grow in wet soil? I have a small creek and I want to plant a row of them tight up to it, the soil where I want to plant it will be saturated but wont have standing water at the surface. Do these will spread like other willows? Thanks.

I have had them growing in zone 4a for several years. Very little if any winter die-back. They will take as much water as you throw at them, as long as they see daylight.

They do NOT sucker/spread like other willows. You can however prune a branch off them once in a while and plant some free ones pretty much anytime of year as long as the ground is soft.
