Okay, I let 2-3 trees get away from my inspection process and they now have collar rot. I have treated some in the past and have the chemicals at the farm. I don’t have pics - sorry - but these seem a little further gone than the ones I treated the last time.
There is the “typical” damage at the base, but then some of the bark has slipped away about 2 feet up on the trunk. I cut it out and the typical red damp wood was under the bark.
Is there a point where you give up? I have not previously had to treat these trees. I am going to do some things to improve drainage in that area as soon as it dries up.
