chestnut seed help

have some chestnuts seeds I tried to stratify in peatmoss layering them 5 across with about 4-5 rows in the bag- punched a bunch of holes in the bag when I set them.......didn't check them all but the ones I did have a thick film of white mold around them- best to burn them and move on or could they possibly be salvagable.

My guess is that you won't have much luck with them. It really depends on how much the mold has taken hold. If you squeeze the nut and it is at all soft, they are done for sure. You can always wash them off and plant them and see what happens, but I'd guess you are probably out of luck.

Thanks,

Jack

thanks Jack, the ones I handled were pretty soft, I'll check em all, but i don't have much hope, appreciate the help, Paul
