Can you please post a pic of your chestnut tree producing nuts and the age of the tree? I understand its probably not the right time of year to go visit your trees that the deer are eating. thanks
Planted in central PA - mostly direct seeded in 2016. lost a few too boring insects. a few burrs the last couple years. Pics from 9/25 so ready to do just before archery opens. starting to remove the blue x tubes and cage. Favorite rub target.
We must have had a weather issue this spring. Chestnuts trees that were starting to produce the last couple years had nothing this year. Our oaks did not produce either this year.
I’m in The middle of planting my first 50 seedlings. Yesterday in a couple holes I noticed a bit more clay type soil than the sandier loam stuff that I was aiming for. Will they tolerate a bit of clay soil? Literally only 20 yards from the more preferred soil. I am planting in larger open areas of mature timber right behind a timber harvest in spots with plenty of sun, for the moment.
