Applying Lime

I'm not near any of mine right now
but they have a box width shaft that has teeth on it that spins in the them, that is ground driven by the wheels
MOST are split, so left tire turns left side and then right tire turns right side
as for vibrate, thats from being pulled, there basically a heave gauge sheet metal box, so sides don't take much to cause them to vibrate while being towed
here is a video of a Gandy made one, to see it, also opther links to watch other like models

this link shows the inside of this one, to give you an idea, and a pic I found online too
they work very well, and again, can be had cheap if you do some leg work and simple repairs if needed!

here is a couple for sale in PA
, like I said when you buy from tractor stores, they KNOW what folks will pay and ask premium prices, buying off the farmer himself, you can get for a fraction of the price
BUT then some times these places do all the repairs needed, saving you time and work?? all comes down to what your budget allows and how much time and skills you have maybe?/

many companys made them, if you want to search for them, Gandy (still makes em but they AIN"T cheap)
, dearborn, JD, IH, Oliver and others

The auger is wheel driven, the only time product hangs up in it if it's wet. My pile sits outside and I have no issues. Sorry no better pics but the one on the bottom shows the openings. I'll dig deeper to see if I can find one of the auger. Auger looks real close to the one above. I had to do some patch work on the ends.

Definitely going to look around at the farms. I was looking at some of the online and found the one in the link below. I will not be getting this one because it is a bit too far to travel but wanted to know if you think one like this is worth anything, as in can it be used for lime again or is it too far gone? I would rather find one in already useable condition for a few hundred but that may be hard to come by. The one in the link looks a bit rough to me. If I came across that one today though I'd probably buy it.

for a 100 bucks, and odds are he will take less, it wouldn't be a bad thing to play with and get better
depending HOW far the rust is, could be chopped down to be made into a smaller one, but sheet metal isn't that costly, and if you fix it right, it will out live you?
so a small investment many times with these things can be a forever piece of equipment for you/
