Acorn production

I've seen several wisconsin guys post about our late freeze wiping out there apple blossoms. It looks like it did a number on my oak trees too. Trees that usually produce hundreds of acorns have about 20 at most on them.

With about 250 acres of hardwoods sorrounding my place, I'm expecting my fall plots to get lots of pressure with the lack of acorns!

I havent even looked my oaks. I will check them out next weekend.

We looked last weekend and didn't see any.

i don't have any acorns on my oaks either.

Everyone that is experiencing this with their oaks should keep in mind that when you are planting this falls plots, seed heavy because without an acorn crop to help the deer put on fat reserves for the winter, your plots will be hammered all that much harder and the deer will need those late season plots to help them through the winter. Let's also not forget to put the chainsaws to use and get some aspen and other browse species hinged and on the ground for them to browse as well.

Excellent point Wiscwhip!!!
