    JD 7000 dry fertilizer opener

Here's an update on my planter/drill project. In order to move seed from the fertilizer box to 4 openers I rigged up a double tube inside one tube. It's not perfect but it looks like it will work. Now I will have to see how much seed I use per acre. Thanks for looking.

    JD 7000 dry fertilizer opener

I was thinking that I could get away with planting and lightly turning the soil with S tines so I purchased 2 and mounted them on my planter. I was going to drill my cover crop mix and then come back and spread more wheat where the bare soil was exposed. The plan didn't work. the S tines...

    JD 7000 dry fertilizer opener

Since I don't have a drill right now and am trying to not turn soil I'm trying to convert my planter into a small drill. I tried using my fertilizer box this fall with a mix of wheat, crimson, vetch, radish. I pushed the openers as far inside as they would go. For the finger pick up I used...

    JD 7000 dry fertilizer opener

Found my fertilizer openers. They range from $350 each new @ shoup down to $75 each what I found in KY. I couldn't make it up there so I found a nice guy in Indian that delivered 2 for $250. Not the easiest thing to ship since they are about 40 lbs each.

    Pruning Black Knot Fungus

On a positive note , this spot is a great place for quail to hang out so I hinged some trash trees along the road to give better cover.

    Cover Crop Roller

Hey guys, I've sold 8 crop rollers so far and am looking to sell one of my prototypes. One is 7 foot and the other is 6 foot. The 7 foot has JD FEL plates which can be used on a 500 and 400 series FEL and the 6' roller can only be hooked up with the 500 series. You can push or pull these. I...

    Green giant arborvitae

I planted some around a field of switchgrass and they did well. I know they make an incredible screen and are more disease resistant than Leyland cypress. You can root them from cuttings if you stick them in a sand box and keep them watered until the next spring.

Starting Apples from Seed Indoors - How To

As a side note, I grew some wild pear seed I think in 2013. I had posted it on the old QDMA forum. Well, this is the first year I've seen fruit on those trees. Pretty cool seeing it grow from seed and bear.

Starting Apples from Seed Indoors - How To

Yoder, Great info here. 2 years ago I started some apple and crab apple seed in root maker trays and transferred them to 1 gallon root builders that same year. Last year I grated some scion wood on the two rootstocks and put them in 7 gallon bags. They really took off and some are about 7...

Hey guys, I shot a big fat doe last afternoon of the TN deer season. I figure she is old but have never seen one with teeth missing like this. Any ideas why here teeth are falling out other than being very old? Thanks for looking.

    Trapping Your Land.

Mo, He would lock you up and torture you? POW? I tried to get it lined with a confederate flag but he preferred a TN Titans logo. Hopefully it's cold enough to wear to the games next year. I run "Jake Traps" by JC Connor, but snares where legal can really put a dent in them. e
