Pre-Emergent Herbicide prior to June Buckwheat

I have planted BW many times and never needed a pre. It grows fast and shades out a lot of weeds. I would also soil test if you havent to get your P and K levels adequate for the brassicas. You will also need a good dose of Urea when planting the brassicas. One thing I would make sure of is that...

    Black Cherry: Need caging?

I wouldn’t plant them unless you’re gona protect them. Your trying to save money by not protecting them ,but in reality your lighting money on fire.

    Opinions on clover.

Clover is always good to have along with other plants . It’s very easy to maintain , easy to plant and deer love it. It’s another thing in the buffet . It’s best to have a variety of plants to chose from instead of one . I don’t think clover is as appealing as alfalfa or soybeans , but I also...

    Clover for wet soil

I’ve had a plot that didn’t drain well before and used Imperial clover by Whitetail Institute. It held up well. According to Google, it appears as tho Aslike is one of the top clovers for poorly drained soils. I would like to do a mix if 3/4 perennial clovers in this 3/4 acre plot next year. I’m...

    Browse impact on Radish tubers

I don’t know where you are located but I planted about 5 acres of turnips and GHFR as well. I’m located in Connecticut . I’ve always had softball size turnips and very good size radish except this year. We did have a 5 day heat waved here in Ct about a week after my planting. I researched it and...

    Holes in apple trees

Peeps: I ran into that problem with sapsuckers last year. They started on like 5 different trees so what I did was put aluminum window screen on the areas . Some trees have like a 4 ft strip of it, but it’s been deterring them. I’m pretty sure it can kill your trees.

    Rye into short fescue?

You get seed to soil contact, it will grow. Cereal Rye is one of the easiest plots to grow . It will grow without burying the seed. I always bury it, but I’ve broadcasted it before and it will grow. Obviously, in your case yours won’t be buried . How tall is the current field in hay? What state...

    Nitrogen loss to air

When I top dress nitrogen to my brassicas like I did the other day just before a rain, I see a big difference two days later after a rain. Maybe it’s just in my head. My head has never been normal.

    Rookie plot ?

You won’t get oats to grow without burying the seed.

    Rookie plot ?

I would put Winter Rye down . You will have better germination covering the seed a 1/2-1 inch deep, but if you can’t, just put the Rye down and walk away. If you can scratch up the bare spots with a rake to cover the seed, even better.
