I have learned a couple things.......
Deer hunting has a couple of very key things to succeed in your goals...
A) own enough land to hold and retain deer(meaning to have acres to set aside as sanctuarys mainly)
B) own land in a great "neighborhood"; also known as neighbors that have like minded...
HAAA.
You are correct sir. Last year I gave up. Told a farmer to take my main field. I mowed a little clover I have left. No habitat work. Left it alone. Shot my first Fing buck in 14 years....
Guess what.... I am done food plotting. :)
All I accomplished was pushing deer off on neighbors...
Oh I saw that thread. Sadly if NoFo was booted long ago, none of this would have happened. He is a piece of work. Bummer that talking hunting and habitat can become so overly personal for some.
Dan Quinn helped seal the deal. They had 3:30 left with the ball in field goal range in the 4th. They threw the ball 2 times in a row and got sacked well back out of field goal range. WTF was he thinking??? Run the ball 2 times and at least run time off the clock. Maybe get some yards. worst...
Not the end of hunting, nor the end of the world. As I stated, it would wreck it for the foreseeable future if it was found close due to the opening of the slaughter such as is happening in SE MN as we speak.
Say a few F bombs and kiss deer hunting completely good bye for the foreseeable future. What else is someone supposed to do? Nothing we can do to change it.
With the ones found around Brainerd and in Meeker county, I sure as hell hope they are going to be doing checks on hunter harvested deer in those areas next fall too.
We went from little talk on CWD just a couple months ago to a topic thats on many peoples minds. Maybe the DNR should be doing...
Its up to 8 confirmed cases down there alone??? Plus the 2 by Brainerd and the one in Meeker county?
How many hunters that shot derr in Fillmore county have dumped their harvests in the trash by now? Or tossed it out on the back 40 for the critters to eat in fear they shot an infected deer?
Rye works just fine in spring. I planted about an acres worth last spring, and mowed it down mid august and let it all reseed itself so I had green stuff come hunting season.
